This part of the website contains information on my new book, Genesis of Man, self published in June 2006, by Pigsty Press, an imprint of Authors OnLine.
I chose to self publish when I realised how heavily the publishing industry is stacked against first time authors. It is no longer sufficient to be a talented writer, as publishers are only interested in marketability and sales, and also whether or not they can pidgeon hole your work into a particular category. As Genesis of Man covers such a large range of topics, it could be placed in any number of different categories making it difficult for publishers to target particular groups - or so they told me!
Self publishing is no longer seen as an admission of failure, but as the mark of an enterpreneur, of one who is prepared to put their money where their mouth is and finance their own book. It is undoubtedly the future of publishing worldwide, as it becomes more and more difficult to break into this arena.
